People in their early 30’s are now even being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. There are a lot of reasons for this, primarily the chemicals put into our foods (you can avoid these), and eating excess carbohydrate foods (more than 30 grams at one sitting) as well as genetics. This is no longer a disease or condition of the elderly.

 

Time is of the essence with diabetes, as you can lose your eyesight or even your legs if you do nothing about it. Look at the list of the most common symptoms of sugar diabetes below and see if you have any of the major signs of diabetes.

The most common symptoms for diabetes include:

  • Frequent Urination (going frequently to the bathroom)
  • Unquenchable Thirst (always thirsty)
  • Numbness in hands or feet (sometimes soreness)
  • Chronic Fatigue (always tired, low energy or motivation)
  • Blurry Vision (or taking longer to focus than normal)
  • Bruise Easily (bruises seem to show up for no reason)

  • Frequent Infection (you always seem to get sick easily)

If you have two or more of these symptoms you may have diabetes or insulin insufficiency, also referred to as Metabolic Syndrome. Most people diagnosed with pre-diabetes, diabetes or metabolic syndrome will have the typical apple shaped body structure.

Causes of Diabetes

Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that prevents the pancreas from producing insulin. Insulin is the hormone that converts blood sugar (glucose) into energy. After eating, one’s glucose level increases causing the pancreas to produce insulin. People with Type 1 Diabetes are not able to produce insulin; therefore, their body’s ability to convert glucose to energy is impaired. Standard medical procedure is to monitor blood sugar levels and take daily injections of insulin.

Type 2 Diabetes is a metabolic disorder. People with Type 2 produce insulin but may produce too little of it or the body is unable to effectively use it (insulin resistance). The majority of people with diabetes are Type 2.

Diabetes Causes includes genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors (diet, nutrition & exercise.)
